Colton Motel

I just booked 2 nights in October at the Colton Motel. I decided on that because it%26#39;s right at the battlefield and the shops. Has anyone stayed here before? If so what did you think ?

Cancel your reservations. Why this dump is highly rated is beyond me. It is a old motel, that while they try to keep it updated it is a losing battle. The Quality Inn Steinwehr is right up the road only three buildings past the Colton.

There are people who swear by this place and for the life of me, I can%26#39;t understand why - the look of the place from the outside alone is enough to keep me away, and it%26#39;s been getting a lot of horrible reviews lately. Yes, it%26#39;s ideally located - but so are 1/2 a dozen other hotels on the same street. If you can cancel without penalty, you may want to consider it.

My goodness, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck....Id cancel my reservations.

Well, I guess it depends on what you want. We have stayed there several times and NEVER a problem. However, it is a 50%26#39;s/60%26#39;s style motel. That is part of its charm. They keep it clean and the staff is friendly.

Why so many have posted negatively to your question is beyond me. However, If you want a cookie cutter MODERN chain hotel, this is not it. It is simply an nice friendly clean place to stay located close to everything.

I think some people just like to complain.

All we%26#39;re looking for is a clean and safe place to sleep. We don%26#39;t need a mint on our pillows. We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express but they are booked up.

Try the brand new Sleep Inn. However it is not downtown and I think you are looking for that.

If you are used to the Holiday Inn Express you WILL NOT Like this motel. We stopped by to see a room and the place is a dump. It smelled musty and smokey and was just plain dumpy. From a quick glance, it did seem clean but I would not stay there. There are at least a few motels that are just as close to the battle field.

Acolacarro, I have booked a one night stay on August, 10th at the Colton and im not worried at all. The reviews on trip advisor are excellent and I trust there reviews. Ive also seen a few recent pics of the rooms and they look fine to me. Nothing fancy but very clean. So what if its old. I mean most of the time you will be out of the room touring right? Thats how I see it. I just book a room to sleep in and shower. I dont see any point in spending tons of money on a room your never going to be in except to sleep. I have also booked another room at a bed and breakfast in gettysburg called ';A sentimental journey';. They have nice, cozy rooms and there very cheap. They only charge $75 a night during the week and $99 on friday and sat night. They dont serve you a hot breakfast like most bed and breakfasts but they give you a deluxe continental one. The owner is super nice too. I had also heard that Andrew the manager of the Colton is the nicest guy. I look forward to meeting him. Well I hope this has helped you a bit. If you call someone else%26#39;s hair in the bed and tub clean then you must have a different definition of clean than most people? Also, there were dried cookies under the desk. We booked one room and stayed one night, but Andrew charged us for two. When I called him he said he would never do such a thing. Our receipt and credit card statement prove him wrong. Acolacarro, please cancel your reservations and stay in one of the many other choices.

Don%26#39;t forget to enjoy the free museum at the parks visitor%26#39;s center.

JUST A NOTE!!! I was searching for s*x offenders in my area and found there is a s*x offender living at the Colton Motel. PA doesnt give great info on s*x offenders so I dont know what he did or how long he will be living at the Motel but if you are going maybe you should look for his pic and be aware.
