.....looking for a nice hotel that can accomodate 2 adults 4 children and we want to see these sites:
Franklin Institute
Independence Hall
Liberty Bell
Reading Terminal Market
The Embassy Suites on Ben Franklin Hwy claims to be within walking distance to Franklin Inst. and Reading Terminal Market. Would this be my best choice??
Thanks
Looking for hotel around these sites....also just found the Residence Inn?
Looking for hotel around these sites....Embassy Suites is right one the Ben Franklin Parkway ( just about) equal distance away from the FI %26amp; Reading Terminal. The Residence Inn is a fairly new property around the corner from Reading Terminal and not too far from Liberty Bell.
sorry for the type-os

Were I doing it, I would be guided by the ages of the 4 kids and their tolerance for walking city streets, plus the time of year for your visit. [When kids are unhappy and cranky, no one has a good time.]
If you are visiting between now and September 3, the Philly Phlash ';trolley'; is an excellent and cheap option for getting around the principal tourist spots when you don%26#39;t want to walk, particularly if the weather is hot and muggy and the kids are under age 8.
Embassy Suites is around 18th and the Benj. Franklin Parkway, only 2 blocks distant from the Franklin Institute at 20th and Parkway. The Embassy Suites hotel is about 7 or 8 blocks from the Reading Terminal and, from there, it is another 7 blocks to Independence Hall and the nearby Liberty Bell. For small children, this might be too much of a round trip to do all in one day. You could, of course, break it up and also just walk one way and ride back to the hotel.
Residence Inn is across from City Hall, making about 5 blocks closer than Embassy Suites to everything you mention except the Franklin Institute. Embassy Suites is in a converted apartment building and has a few quirks. I have stayed there 2 times with acceptable results, but agree with reviewers about the slow elevators, the long lines and so-so food at TGI Fridays and the long wait to get my car from the pricey valet parking.
Both Embassy Suites and Residence Inn are fine for families, but both are getting widely varied reviews recently by TripAdvisor posters, so I would read the reviews and be prepared to make my decision based on how acceptable you find the worst of the experiences.
I%26#39;m a fan of Residence Inn%26#39;s in general, because of the space you get and the kitchen, especially with kids. Plus the one in Philly does offer free grocery service, so you can have some snacks waiting when you get back (the service is free, not the food!)
You might also want to consider the Holiday-Inn Independence Mall, which I have put people in with some success.
Embassy Suites is actually a bit further than two city blocks ~ You do have to walk around the circle which makes it a bit longer. In addition, if one cuts through Love Park they can be a the Terminal in no time.
