I have been to Gettysburg once, when i was much younger and didnt appreciate it fully. I am going to be in Harrisburg for work for 12 days and plan on taking off on a Saturday and comming down to Gettysburg for the day. Where should i go, what route of the battlefields should i take? Where to eat? Any tips, info would be great.
Thanks,

A Saturday in Gettysburg
To make the most of your time, you could hire a personal tour guide of the battlefield. They drive your car, which allows you to relax and enjoy all the sites. Our guide, Stuart D., made the battle come alive. It was almost like you could see the troops marching and fighting in the different areas. He was extremely knowledgeable abouth the battle and could convey the knowledge.
Another suggestion is to tour the Eisenhower farm. That can be from 1 1/2 hours to longer, if you wish. You board a bus at the battle visitor%26#39;s center and go out. Part of it is guided and part is self-guided which explains why the different amounts of time. Also, there is a small Eisenhower museum on the grounds. When any bus brings another group out you can catch it back to the visitor%26#39;s center.
While at the battlefield%26#39;s visitor%26#39;s center, take the time to view the fantastic free museum.
Gettysburg is a great place to enjoy for a day or more, just enjoy your day there.

General Pickett%26#39;s Buffet across the street from the Battlefield Center is pretty good. It%26#39;s nothing fancy, just good food at a reasonable price.
The best way from Harrisburg is to use Rt 15. south.
