Hi there. I think we%26#39;ll be staying at the Sofitel -- just wondering if there are any good wine bars in that area or any that we can stop at near Independence Hall after sightseeing. Thanks, jen
Good Wine Bars in Philly
There are three major wine bars in Philly - Tria (which has two locations, one very close to your hotel and the other around 12th and Spruce) and Vintage, which is on 13th St., south of Chestnut. I love Tria - it%26#39;s a wine/beer/cheese bar, but it can get very crowded. Vintage is often less crowded, but they have many interesting wines and the food is pretty good too.

In Old City you%26#39;ll find Ristorante Panorama, 14 N. Front St. in the Penn%26#39;s View Hotel, which is said to be unmatched for wine by the glass.

Although would take a cab to get there - I would try Sovalo in Northern Liberties. It is run by a chef from Napa %26amp; has a great wine selection ( not to mention dinner too).
I would also rec. Tria too.
Second the choice of Panorama. You%26#39;ll be amazed by the selection of wines by the glass.
As follow-up to the second post: there is a new Tria Cafe located at 1137 Spruce Street. Telephone is (215) 629-9200. They open at 4pm and also offer a good cheese pairings - and beer too, if you%26#39;re into this.
Both Tria and Il Bar at Panorama are great choices. Tria is very close to the Sofitel - Il Bar is in Old City. Il Bar has more choices and flights of wine, but I find Tria very charming with interesting wine and beer choices as well. Enjoy!
