I am planning a drive from Richmond, VA to Buffalo, NY - I have made this trip many times and taken many different routes. I am wondering what Route 219 is like from Interstate 80 up to the New York State line. Thanks for any help.

Route 219Mostly 2 lane and rural and very picturesque. Road is in good shape too for PA.
Route 219thanks so much for the info. I expected most would be 2 lane - should be fine if it doesn%26#39;t rain!!
Hi Zach
I am wondering how your trip to Buffalo went on PA 219. I am traveling from Fredericksburg, VA to Buffalo on Aug. 23. I was thinking of going 95, 495, 270, 70, then up to 322 to 80 to 219 and up. I am hoping for a safe but scenic route that is not too slow and not the usual routes to western NY. Any suggestions?
Rob
Rob,
I haven%26#39;t done 219 to Western NY in ages (since a college trip to hockey playoffs in Buffalo in 1990). But it was a nice drive way back then. Also, I punched in your route to Google Maps and it is only about an hour longer time wise (9 hours vs. 8) than the fastest route and is actually shorter by about 25 miles.
Another option that will allow you to skip 80 completely, and is very scenic, would be to go to Harrisburg, PA, then take Route 15 North to Mansfield, then Route 6 West to Route 219. That section of Route 6 from Mansfield to just south of Bradford is gorgeous - one of the nicest drives in Pennsylvania. It also takes you very close to Leonard Harrison State Park, near the little town of Ansonia. The park has beautiful views of the Pennsylvania ';Grand Canyon';. Nothing compared to the real Grand Canyon, but a beautiful area regardless. That route will make the trip about 10 hours instead of the 9 for the route you suggested, but is very worth it if you have the time and want the scenery. Wellsboro is a great little town a little bit west of Mansfield where you can stop for a meal. Very quaint town with a ';small town America'; main street feel.
