Farmacia in Old City features ingrediants from local sources.
Fork, also in Old City, does the same to a lesser degree and is a bit more upscale.
The Reading Terminal Market offers numerous vendors, none of them chains, plus a great piece of local history. Go to readingterminalmarket.org for more info.
If by ';indigenous meals'; you meal dishes that originated in Philly then you really are limiting yourselves, perhaps to just cheesesteaks and Pennsylvania Dutch (German) cooking. Like most cosmopolitan areas, Philly has a great variety of ethnic restaurants and a lot of fusion. A great number of our eating establishments offer very good to excellent food.
