Mother Sun getaway

I%26#39;m arriving with my 12 year old on 8/25 for a 3 day getaway. Monday is pretty filled up as we are going to the Phillies Mets game on Monday night and are doing the tour of the stadium earlier in the day.

He is a real sports fanatic and not much of a history buff. Last year we did all the sports stuff in Baltimore capped off with an Orieles game and he loved that.

I was thinking of doing Eastern Peneteniary as that sounds different, any other ideas? Also, can you tell me about the Italian section? He loves italian food and I%26#39;m wondering if it is like Little Italy in NY?

Thanks!

EP is a great idea! Also, the Mutter Museum is a neat place ( provided that you guys have a stomach to handle the oddities).

IMHO, I think that the Market %26amp; Little Italy are more different than alike. First, the Market is not as big %26amp; there are not as many places to eat ( there are not blocks of resturants in a row with hostesses trying to persuade you to come in). However, like Little Italy it is a wonderful place to browse and shop for Italian specialties.

If you are looking for an Italian resturant, there are numerous places in South Philly to try.

I%26#39;m willing to bet your 12 year old would like Villa di Roma, right on 9th Street in the heart of the Italian Market. Casual, old-world, Italian red-gravy food. The waitresses have been there forever and it%26#39;s reasonably priced. Just a FYI - it%26#39;s cash only, no cards.
