I will be in Philadelphia from Feb 16-18 can anyone suggest a 1 day tour or a 2 day tour of Philadelphia . There will be 2 kids ages 14 and 12 and 1 adult so it has to be kid friendly. We were also thinking of taking a daytrip Valley Forge, PA and Lancaster, PA one of the days we are in Philadelphia, is that a good idea and is there a kid friendly tour group that does that. thanks

If you are looking for a tour service then take a look at phillytour.com for Big Bus Tours and Philly Trolley Works tours. The only real difference between the two is the type of vehicle used. These services allow you to get on and off at about 20 different popular locations.
If it is history that is bringing you to Philadelphia then figure most of your time will be spent in Old City, in and around Independence National Historical Park.
I don%26#39;t recommend any side trips. Your visit is short and there%26#39;s a lot to see and do right in Center City (downtown).

Just because of the driving distances, VF and Amish country are two separate trips, and as many of us have posted Amish country is a nice place to use extra time.
If you go with the Trolley works (and I recommend them), in February I would take the Trolley tour. The best part about the big bus tour is riding on top, and in Feb you do NOT wanna do that, wee bit cold.
Depending on where you are staying, you may not even need a car at all.
thanks for the replys
in another fourm somebody said to go to Valley Forge and Lancaster,in one day(there is also the posability i misunderstood)i still want to go visit Valley Forge though
i will take the trolly tour then thanks again
While you COULD go to VF and Lancaster in one day, it would be a definite push to get it done, especially in winter with the shorter days. Were you looking to go to the battlefield site in VF or did you have something else in mind?
Also, Lancaster in the winter, not so exciting. The theme parks are closed and the Amish Farmhouse runs more limited hours.
i want to go to Valley Forge National Historical Park i dont care if i souldnt go to Lancaster,this trip, there is always next time! someone just suggested i should go to both and i thought cool
i already have a list of places to go and things to do for ';next time';
thanks
My last thought regarding VF Park - before you come, check what is operating, there may be closures due to cold and/or snow. You can get up to date park info on their web page:
http://www.nps.gov/vafo/index.htm
Make sure you have good boots and thermal socks if there is snow expected to be on the ground (nothing personal, have seen more than a few people from California not properly prepared to deal with a real winter ;))
thanks for the website i will make sure im dressed right dont worry
