1st visit, need hotel and sightseeing help

Coming, to see Tut, Sept 1-3. I%26#39;m looking to stay outside of the city, due to cost. Will be driving. (3 of us). I need to know what area would be best, to stay in, don%26#39;t mind a 30 minute drive. Just looking for clean and safe. Also, any help, as to getting around, via public transportation. I saw the Tut trolley ad, thought that that would be helpful. What should I see? Any great flea/public markets, no to be missed?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure of your budget for a hotel, but sometimes it can cost more to stay outside of the city and have to park outrageous amounts for parking daily. Hotwire has a 3* hotel in Center City East that may be the Hilton Garden Inn for $89/night. It could also be the Doubletree or the Crowne Plaza as well. I%26#39;ve stayed at all three properties and all would be a very decent deal based on location. You%26#39;d have to pay daily to park if you have a car with you, but we could point you toward lots that are cheaper than your typical hotel garages. That way you could take the Philly Phlash around town - probably the cheapest and easiest way to navigate around our city. Let me know if you would like further assistance.

And yes, forgot to mention - don%26#39;t miss Reading Terminal Market, it%26#39;s a great place to go.

If it wasn%26#39;t for the parking, you should be able to find cheap lodgings in the city itself. Hotwire shows a 3star at $89 or a 4 star at $129, you won%26#39;t do MUCH better than that outside the city, and you will save quite a bit of hassle. The difference is parking will be significantly more expensive inside the city. Depending on what hotel you may end up at, there may be cheaper options nearby. But if you factor in the cost of sitting in traffic, I think its an offset.

Instead of the Tut Trolley (which runs every hour), on Market Street you can grab the Phlash ($1 per ride) that takes you to the Art museum and runs every 12 minutes (in service till 9/3, so you are covered.)

As far as markets, check out the Reading Terminal Market (www.readingterminalmarket.org).

Lol, I think Suzanne and I were typing at the same time ;)
