Attending Steeler Game-November

My family and I will be attending a steeler game, no car. is it best to take a shuttle to heinz field? take a taxi or bus line? or just walk? do all the bridges have available foot traffic?. Is there an area at night after a game that you shouldn%26#39;t walk in?

It all depends on where you are staying. Please give more details and we%26#39;ll be able to give more specific suggestions.

That being said, some possibilities:

If you are staying near Station Square, take one of the passenger ferry boats to the stadium.

If you are staying downtown, you could walk.

Not all bridges have foot traffic.

Areas to avoid walking - depends on where you expect to be, and what you plan to do.

sorry for being so vague, i guess that%26#39;s my problem; not sure where to stay. The Sheraton on the south side on the water is really nice, but seems far away to walk? i also liked the Hilton Pittsburgh and the Doubletree hotel Pitt City Centre, and Renaissance Pitts Hotel. We do want to stay within the city.

The Hilton is a nice hotel, we stay there when we do our ';night on the town';.

It is also where they sequester the Steelers for a home game, so you might see one of them in the lobby!

ahhhh that could be really cool! thanks for the info!

http://www.heinzfieldhotels.com/ might be a helpful site for you to check as it maps the location of nine hotels in the proximity of Heinz Field. The closest is Springhill Suites By Marriott Pittsburgh North Shore on Federal Street.

My suggestion would be to first find a hotel. During Steeler football weekends, most hotels get booked as soon as the schedule comes out.

Then once you have the hotel, it is easy to find means of transporation, even if you do a cab.

You will be able to walk from just about any downtown hotel to Heinz Field. You should be fine, safety-wise.

A number of hotels in the area offer shuttles, such as the Holiday Inn Express on the South Side. That would be another good option.

Welcome and go Steelers!

I agree with Penzgirl, you have to keep in mind too that there will be thousands of people walking with you downtown, across bridges and that%26#39;s pretty safe....
