Hi Louise -

Not speaking German will be no obstacle whatsoever - it%26#39;s true, some of the communities in south central Pennsylvania are of German ancestory, but everyone with whom you%26#39;ll interact on your trip will speak English, so you%26#39;ll encounter no difficulties.

If you can give me a little more information about your trip, I should be able to help you in the planning - what airport will you be flying into? How long will your trip be, and when? Do you have a specific price range for hotels? Do you plan to do any sightseeing of the area while here? The more info you can provide, the better.

Hanover war cemetary

I will be coming to Hanover in Mid October. I haven%26#39;t been in several years. I will only be there about three days. I%26#39;m helping my mom drive up to visit friends.

Can you recommend any hotels, lodging or resorts?

Any sights in the area that are a must see?

Any sights within a short drive?

Also, we do eat more organic. Any places to eat that you would recommend?

Thanks!!

Lori:

-Hanover isn%26#39;t far from Gettysburg (about 20 minutes). It would be a nice drive. There is also a town between Hanover and Gettysburg called New Oxford that has many antique shops and pretty houses.

-The new Holiday Inn Express off Eisenhower Drive is fairly new and looks nice. Check the reviews, though. A Starbucks just opened nearby.

-I%26#39;m not sure about the organic food. If you like fresh produce, the orchards in the northern part of Adams County (about half an hour away) will have plenty of apples, and many growers try to limit the use of pesticides as much as they can. Isaac%26#39;s is a local chain on the south side of town, and they make wonderful sandwiches with plenty of vegetarian choices.

-Depending on your definition of fun, you can walk through the Utz Potato Chip factory tour! Other factory tours, including Harley-Davidson, are available in York, a short distance away.

-I find Hanover difficult to drive through. It%26#39;s not really that big, but takes a long time to navigate north to south. There is really neat architecture downtown, but I haven%26#39;t really stopped to walk around much.

I hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!
