Hi everyone
We are arriving into Philadelphia this coming Sunday for a conference. We are staying at the downtown Marriott. We will have Monday to ourselves (event that night) and than I may be on my own for two days on foot. The Monday event is at the museum and Wednesday night we are at the aquarium.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. .
Restaurants to go to close? Best Philly steak close?
Thanks in advance
Debbie

You are will be in a pretty central location with lots of great restaurants to walk to ( or that are a short cab ride away). What type of food preferences do you have? What is your price range?
On Monday, I would definitely take the time to visit Reading Terminal. It is a short walk from your hotel and will provide you with some great Philadelphia cuisine. Are you looking to visit any specific museums or are you open to anything?

Thanks Heather
Restaurants with atmosphere - view, ambience. I have read about the Reading terminal and will check it out.

Heather is right about Reading Terminal - do not miss! The Dutch Eating Place is awesome for breakfast. Check out the Reading Terminal Market website for days open and hours.
In addition to some chain restaurants (Hard Rock Cafe, Maggiano%26#39;s, The Melting Pot, Chili%26#39;s), some close restaurants more unique to Philadelphia are abundant - it just depends on what you like. Chinatown is right near the hotel with some great places, and across Market Street on 13th there are two great Mexican places - El Vez and Lolita. I have not been to Lolita as yet, but it is BYOT (bring your own tequila) and you can buy the mixes for various margaritas there. Capogiro across the street from El Vez is excellent for gelato. If you want a casual bar atmosphere, the oldest pub in Philly - McGillin%26#39;s - is nearby on Drury Street. Good food there as well, inexpensive prices. Morarity%26#39;s is nearby at 11th and Walnut for the best buffalo wings in the city and great burgers. I like Jim%26#39;s at 4th and South for a cheesesteak, but it is a bit of a walk, but definitely doable. Another good restaurant is Jones, at 7th and Chestnut. If you walk over to South Broad Street (Avenue of the Arts), Capital Grille is excellent for steaks, Upstares at Varalli does very good Northern Italian cuisine and Nineteen (XIX) at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue specializes in excellent seafood. Also located on S Broad is The Grill at the Ritz Carlton - good restaurant and the Rotunda inside the Ritz is amazing - even if you don%26#39;t want to fork out the cash for dinner, the bar boasts really nice atmosphere for a cocktail.
That may be a start. Hope that helps and let us know if you have questions.
Suzanne
