Hi, we are planning to go to New Hope for a weekend getaway. Can somebosy advise some of things we can do while we are there. Other than the small antique stores around, i have no clue about anything. any help will be appreciated.
Weekend getaway
Peddler%26#39;s Village, in Lahaska, is a few minutes drive from New Hope - a ';village'; of specialty shops, restaurants, etc. sprawling a few acres over rolling hills %26amp; garden-like lawns. Very pretty, especially in fall.
Weekend getaway
Take a walk on the canal path. Walk over the bridge into Lambertville for additional shopping and restaurants. Rent bikes for a spin on the old canal/railway path on the NJ side (many sections on the PA side trail have been destroyed by storms/floods in the past few years). Take a ride up the road to Sand Castle Winery. Down the road a couple of miles is Washington Crossing State Park. I think there%26#39;s also a flower/nature preserve nearby. P.S. Peddler%26#39;s Village is OK, but a bit of a tourist trap.
I second the canal path walk on the Lambertville side. About a mile down there is a dam ( or what I think is called a dam) that you can walk onto, gives a nice scenic view of the Delaware.
My wife and I enjoy Peddlar%26#39;s Village so much we try to make it a yearly visit, especially around the fall. Yes, it could be considered a tourist trap, but so is New Hope. We really enjoy the colonial style restaurant in Peddlar%26#39;s Village called TheCockn%26#39;Bull. The prime rib, baked potato and cinnamon bread are delicious. New Hope %26amp; Ivyland Railroad steam train ride could kill an hour or so. Take a look at www.NewHopePa.com for more info.
