RENOIR: Upcoming at the Philly Art Museum

Just an FYI:

Renoir Landscapes

October 4, 2007 - January 6, 2008

This exhibition is the first to explore the inventiveness and importance of landscapes during the first 30 years of Pierre-Auguste Renoir%26#39;s (1841鈥?919) career. Approximately 70 paintings reveal the subtlety of touch, vaporous effects, and lush, full-blown color that mark the painter as one of the most audacious and original landscape artists of his age.

Separate tickets are required I believe.

Tickets are required for a specific date %26amp; time for this particular special exhibition.

This looks like the same Renoir exhibition from a couple years back.

According to the member%26#39;s newsletter, at least a few of the pieces are new, cause it mentions one as being %26#39;never before seen in Philly.%26#39;

BTW, I don%26#39;t get the newsletter, my Aunt called and asked me to get info off the net ;)

The Renoir exhibition is one of my planned stops on my Mid October trip. I am hoping to wait until I get into Philly to get my ticket so as to keep my schedule flexible. Has there been much publicity about how busy the exhibition will be and how far in advance one should purchase tickets?

I don%26#39;t know where my mind is today~ the exhibit I was refering to was the Degas exhibit in %26#39;03. Sorry for the confusion!

When Degas was in town, there was a lot of publicity. I do remember purchasing them far in advance ~ however, I can recall exactly how far it was. Looks like tickets go on sale on 9/5 ~ I would probably purchase them sooner to be on the safe side. You can purchase them though the link listed above.

Thanks for the info! It sounds great! I loved the Degas exhibit and really loved the Cezanne exhibit. This sounds terrific. A little Art after Five on a Friday night with this exhibit...doesn%26#39;t that sound great! Moms

Is anyone familiar with parking around the museum? Cost and availability is unclear to me from the museum web site. I have not finalized my lodging arrangements, so I am not sure if I will be driving or taking public transport. I don%26#39;t mind walking to save on parking cost.

There is a lot directly across the street from the Museum. I can find out the cost on later on today. In addition, there is metered parking all along the Parkway ( Mon- Sun).

The cheapest lot that I personally know of is the $5.00 ( after $5 on weekdays %26amp; all weekend) on 16th %26amp; Spring. It would be a nice ( a bit long) walk up the Parkway.

The museum has it%26#39;s own parking lot, located behind the musuem. I believe this is free, but hard to get a spot. There%26#39;s also free parking in the lot near the Azalea Garden on Kelly Drive and along the center median of Pennsylvania Avenue. We never pay to park when visiting the Art Museum.

For a while they had been charging for that lot on the weekends, do not know if they still do. It was cheap tho, like $3
