We (family of four) are travelling to Gettysburg area in November and would like to be in town for the Remembrance Day parade. Seems like there are plenty of accomodations in the area, but are they likely to be filled for that weekend? Coming from the north, are there any recommendations for a place to stay outside of Gettysburg on the Friday night before and just drive into town that morning? I%26#39;ve heard that the crowds can be pretty big for the parade - will it be possible to get into town and find a place to park a few hours before the parade?
Staying in Town for Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is usually very crowded. I would book hotel now. If you stay at one of the Stienwehr Motels you don%26#39;t have to worry about parking, as the parade will walk right past your room.

We had thought of coming in for that weekend and had a very difficult time trying to find a reservation - the only places we found still available were Super 8 and the Hilton Garden Inn (about 1.5 miles from Steinwehr Ave, definitely have to drive %26amp; park). That was about 6 weeks ago, so I%26#39;m not sure you%26#39;kll find anything now.
If you want to try some places out of town but not too far, you may want to think about the Fairfield Lodge in Fairfield (motel-style, about $60/night) or the Suites at Orchard Hill in Orrtanna (new apartment-style suites, $100/night). Both are within under 10 miles but obscure enough where vacancies may still be available. Good luck!
