Were are thinking of going for two days the week of August 27th - either wed, thrus or thrus, Fri. We were hoping the long lines will be gone by then? Any idea as to if that is a good time to go? Also, anyone have input to the other park Dutch Wonderland? Thinking of doing that one the second day for my youngest child. TIA!
When do the kids go back to school in PA?
I work and live in this area and most of the school districts around here are going back to school the week of August 27. I don%26#39;t know how the lines will be at Hersheypark even though I have a season pass. I%26#39;m guessing it%26#39;ll still be full although being there on a weekday should help.
When do the kids go back to school in PA?
In Lancaster County (neighboring county to Dauphin) 3 school districts return the day after labor day all the rest (public schools) return the week of August 27.
Not soon enough.
FYI: Lines tend to be longer the last week of August and some rides may be shut down for part of the day. The majority of Hershey Park%26#39;s work force has gone back to high school or college.
It is so bad in fact that amusement parks in PA have banned together to ask congress to make it illegal for public schools to begin classes before Labor Day. Personally, I don%26#39;t like the state of PA being involved with when MY child starts school (don%26#39;t they have bigger things to worry about) plus, this argument surfacing over and over again each summer does not make any sense to me. Sure, if you start them after Labor day the tourist industry gets the workers for the last week of August but then they don%26#39;t get them for the first week in June?? PA has a 180 day school day rule so what does it matter? Either get them in June or get them in August but you can%26#39;t have both.
Sorry about the tangent - anyway - if you go this week you will probably find smaller crowds but you will also find a smaller work force.
