Are there places to eat at the Philly zoo?

We are taking a quick day trip to the Philly zoo next week. I have looked on the zoo%26#39;s website, but I don%26#39;t see where they have a place for food options. Since we will have the kids with us, I am trying to plan lunch, etc. If there are dining options, what are they? Thanks!

Yes, there are concessions at the Zoo but when I was there last it was your standard hotdogs, chicken tenders, fries, etc. If that%26#39;s okay with you then you%26#39;re covered.

There%26#39;s a pseudo-Nathan%26#39;s hot dogs, which also handles burgers, plus Icee stands and ice cream, etc around the zoo. In short, not much. The zoo does allow food to be brought in and there are picnic areas, crowded at peak times tho.

Personally, I pack a couple of sandwiches in a small cooler and buy drinks and add-ons there.

The animals eat way better than the humans at the zoo. There%26#39;s some pretty bad concession stands, and nothing at all in the surrounding area. As someone else suggested, pack some sandwiches.

Agree with the ';pack-the-sandwiches'; theory. Whenever we go to the zoo, I bring lunch but allow my kids to get a treat there (i.e. ice cream) and that usually works out well.

Isn%26#39;t there a limited menu McDonald%26#39;s there too? We usually eat before we go and then go to somewhere in University City to eat a nice meal after.

The McDonalds is now the Nathan%26#39;s...

Thanks for the helpful answers! Fast food does not sound good, especially when it is supposed to be 90+ degrees on Friday. Hopefully, there are shaded areas along the paths. The ice cream does sound good though. I think we will pack lunch and have a cold treat!

Unless they changed it this year, there is an ice cream shop above the children%26#39;s zoo with shaded benches.

The zoo has many shaded areas.

You guys made my day! I will look forward to plopping down on one of those benches in a shaded area and have ice cream when it gets 90!!
