I am trying to find a moderately priced hotel or bed %26amp; breakfast in the historic district, 3 stars with breakfast. Priceline/Hotwire are charging $169-193 per night. Do you think that if I offered $100 per night , I might be successful? Otherwise, any recommendations for a good B%26amp;B in this area?

The bid that Priceline accepts will vary a lot from week to week, depending on demand. Try bidding $100 on priceline, and if you%26#39;re rejected, you can try again after a 24-hour wait with a slightly higher bid. Try %26amp; try again! You are likely to get a better price bidding on Priceline than you would find at a B%26amp;B.

$100 is probably ambitious if its a weekend. B+Bs are probably more.
Check the Holiday Inn Historic District, and the GoPhila.com website, sometimes they run specials that with the addins make a better value.
The Thomas Bond House B%26amp;B starts at $95/night.
You might want to take a look at bnbphiladelphia.com for some options in that area.

Not sure what the rates are or if they include breakfast, but look into the Alexander Inn. Great location. Good luck!
I%26#39;d try Priceline - it really is the best way to get the cheapest rates. For example, if Hotwire is offering a hotel at $120/night, I find I can usually get the same hotel on Priceline for in the $75-85 vicinity. What dates are you coming to Philly? Perhaps I can help navigate some things for you.

LGarner- just picked up the Holiday Inn historic district (mid-week stay 3 star rating) for $84/night (includes all taxes/fees) off of Hotwire.
good luck w/ your search- t
Tee - thats an excellent rate and its a very good hotel too!
I%26#39;ve put several people up in there.
try the Best Western Independence Park Hotel we stayed there for one night in July - lovely old hotel, free internet %26amp; handy to historic buildings. It included breakfast unfortunately we had an early train to catch (Saturday) so we missed out - somehow I didnt notice that breakfast was served later on weekends than midweek but I did get the afternoon tea on our first day but dont leave it till late cos front desk started to pack up about 15 minutes before time - maybe not enough guests staying then. Not sure what rates are now but I thought it was reasonably priced compared to what we paid elsewhere. ps I never used priceline cos I liked to know well in advance were I was staying but sounds like some people get a good deal. If you can get this place for $100 a night go for it.
